Description
This modification provides a NEMA 12 rated wall-mounted separate starter with a hinged cover. The separate starter enclosure is a 480VAC Circuit Breaker and includes an external disconnect handle that shuts off the power to the Starter and door operator when the cover is opened. The enclosure holds the electrical control equipment that is not mechanically connected to the Door Operator powerhead. The limit switches, internal interlock switch (when supplied) and motor remain in the standard electrical enclosure on the door operator. The circuit breaker is rated for up to 480VAC, and is for use with door operator where incoming power is 480VAC or less.
The control circuit is intrinsically safe in accordance with NEC Article 504, therefore allowing control components (limit switches, control stations and safety edges) to be housed in general-purpose enclosures. A Dynamic Brake see (M5) with a Delay-on-Reverse Circuit see (M60) and automatic resetting overload are provided as standard. All components used in this modification are either UL listed or Factory Mutual (FM) approved. This equipment meets specifications for hazardous areas defined by NEC Article 501, Class I, Divisions 1 and 2, Group D, and Class II, Divisions 1 and 2, Groups F and G. All of the control stations and the safety edge would be connected to terminals in the limit enclosure on the door operator. The starter itself is an industrial size 0 but may be upgraded to a size 1 see (M154).
This modification does not include a Hazardous Area Modification (M105) on the door operator; you must order (M105) in addition to this modification and it must be factory supplied. See (M149 and M150) for alternate voltage ratings.
